Entrance/Culvert Permit Application

Entrance Permits are required when changing an existing (widening) entrance, creating a second entrance, and creating a new entrance.

A entrance or a driveway is an access right that is given to the landowner by the authority in charge of the particular road.

The Ministry of Transportation grants permits for driveways on Provincial Highways;
The County of Peterborough grants permits for driveways on County Roads; and
The Township grants permits for entrances onto Township roadways.

Pursuant to the Township's Fees and Charges By-law, a non-refundable application fee of $250.00 plus HST is required with submission.

It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that all other permits that may be required from other authorities (i.e., Otonabee Region Conservation Authority (ORCA), Peterborough County, Ministry of Transportation (MTO), etc.) have been obtained, and that by submitting this permit application the property owner acknowledges they have contacted the other authorities and have completed any process they require.

911 sign to be installed by the Township $125.00

Upon receipt of an application and the requisite fee(s), Township staff will conduct a review of the application and complete a site visit.
Upon issuance of a permit, payment of the required deposit fee, and completion of the entrance installation, all accounts will be provided to the applicant along with an invoice for any costs over and above the application fee. Conversely, reimbursement will be issued to the applicant, if applicable.
